One Year MBA Consortium

In the fall of 2025, a group of One Year MBA Program Directors gathered in advance of the Roundtable's 2025 Annual Curricular Innovation Symposium in St. Petersburg, Florida and the One Year MBA Consortium was formed.
With the support of the Roundtable, the One Year MBA Consortium strives to support business schools who are currently delivering One Year MBA Programs as well as those considering to develop one in the future. Along with an annual meeting, which will be held prior to the 2026 Roundtable Symposium at Fordham University in New York City on Tuesday, October 27th from 3:00 to 5:00 pm, the One Year MBA Consortium has created a virtual learning community that will meet quarterly to meet, discuss and share opportunities and challenges to advance One Year MBA Program Innovation.
From the One Year MBA Consortium Founders:
"The one-year MBA has been popular in Europe for many years. This newer form of the MBA is becoming more popular in the United States as schools look for financially viable alternatives to costly two-year MBA programs and traditional executive MBA programs – both of these older forms of the MBA have been in decline for many years.
As early career, one-year accelerated MBAs become more popular, it is clear that a new learning community is needed for schools that offer this type of MBA to share information and best practices, enhance the credibility of this type of degree, and establish collective thoughts on the criteria that rankings outlets might use in the future to evaluate and rank this newer form of the MBA.
Currently, the one-year MBA space is the “wild west” with many different types of degrees and audiences. For example, some Executive MBAs have been shortened and rebranded as one-year MBAs. This type of MBA typically has an experience requirement for admission. These types of MBAs should be evaluated and ranked differently and separately from one-year MBAs that have no experience requirement as they serve very different markets and have different designs and learning objectives. This just one example of the topics that this new learning community will explore and discuss."
